Charles' Convict Records 

The top one, completed in England states: that he was tried in the Central Criminal Court on the 5th of April 1841, was 5'1" tall, aged 18, received a sentence of ten years, was Protestant, could both read and write and was single.  He had served 10 months in a hulk.  His offence was 'Stealing a silk handf from - the person of [ 'Sergeant Myers' erased ] - once for robbing a till. 3 mos [months]'.  The Sergeant's report ran: 'Orderly well Behaved Employed repairing Lamps'.  Trade: Carriage Lamp Making.  Native Place: Hart Street, Grosvenor Square.  The remarks column ran: 'F. Thomas - M.Ann - at NP - 2B. Thos Wm 4 S Emma Martha Ann Eliza'
